Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VP-002 is a development code identifying two distinct therapeutic assets. The first is a small-molecule antagonist of the C-C motif chemokine receptor 1 (CCR1), also known as BX471. Developed by Cycle Pharma and sponsored in clinical trials by Cancer Research Horizons, this version of VP-002 is designed to modulate the tumor microenvironment in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) by inhibiting the recruitment and polarization of tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs). It is currently being evaluated in the Phase I/II CRISTAL-APC trial in combination with nab-paclitaxel and gemcitabine. The second asset, developed by Nuvara Therapeutics, is a Phase II anti-diarrheal and oral rehydration solution composed of a proprietary combination of prescription amino acids. This formulation is designed to treat infectious diarrhea and replace lost fluids by modulating epithelial transmembrane proteins, particularly in pediatric populations.
