Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VP-004 is a small molecule inhibitor targeting Protein Kinase C (PKC), currently under development by Varsity Pharmaceuticals. It is specifically being investigated for the treatment of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). PKC is a family of serine/threonine kinases that play a pivotal role in various cellular signaling pathways, including those governing cell growth, differentiation, and survival. In CLL, PKC signaling (particularly the PKC-beta isoform) is a critical component of the B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling pathway, which promotes the survival and proliferation of malignant B cells. By inhibiting PKC, VP-004 aims to disrupt these survival signals and induce apoptosis in leukemic cells.
