Overview

VRC-FLUDNA057-00-VP is an investigational DNA vaccine developed for the prevention of pandemic influenza caused by the 2009 H1N1 virus. It consists of a single plasmid DNA encoding the hemagglutinin (HA) protein from the A/California/09(H1N1) influenza strain. The vaccine is designed to induce an immune response against H1N1 by expressing the HA antigen in host cells, thereby stimulating both humoral and cellular immunity. The vaccine was evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (VRC 308) conducted at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, to assess its safety and immunogenicity in healthy adults[3].
