Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**VRC-FLUDNA061-00-VP** is an investigational trivalent seasonal influenza **plasmid DNA vaccine** developed by the Vaccine Research Center of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The product comprises three closed-circular DNA plasmids encoding influenza hemagglutinin from A/California/04/2009 (H1N1), A/Perth/16/2009 (H3N2), and B/Brisbane/60/2008. It was evaluated as an intramuscular DNA-prime vaccine followed 36 weeks later by a 2012/13 trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine boost in healthy adults. The phase 1b study found the prime-boost regimen to be safe and well tolerated, but did not detect a significant improvement in hemagglutination-inhibition antibody responses versus placebo prime followed by seasonal inactivated vaccine.
