VRC-FLUDNA071-00-VP is a recombinant DNA vaccine developed by the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Vaccine Research Center. It encodes the hemagglutinin (HA) protein from the A/Anhui/1/2013 H7N9 avian influenza virus, designed as a prophylactic vaccine to stimulate an immune response against H7 subtype influenza viruses. The vaccine was evaluated in phase 1 clinical trials as both a standalone prime and in combination with monovalent H7N9 subunit virion vaccines, aiming to enhance immunogenicity through prime-boost regimens. Its mechanism of action is immunostimulation via expression of viral HA antigen, leading to antibody production and cellular immune responses against influenza[1][5][6].
