Overview

VRC-FLUNPF0103-00-VP (also known as H10ssF-6473) is an experimental nanoparticle influenza vaccine developed by the Vaccine Research Center (VRC) of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). The vaccine utilizes a self-assembling ferritin nanoparticle platform to multimerically display a stabilized version of the hemagglutinin (HA) stem region from an H10 influenza strain. By focusing the immune response on the conserved HA stem rather than the highly mutable HA head region, the vaccine is designed to elicit broadly neutralizing antibodies that may provide protection against diverse H10 influenza viruses. This approach is part of a broader strategy to develop universal influenza vaccines that offer more durable and broader protection than traditional seasonal vaccines. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial (VRC 323) to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy adults.
