VRC-FLUNPF081-00-VP is an investigational recombinant influenza hemagglutinin (HA) ferritin nanoparticle vaccine developed to induce immunity against the H2 subtype of influenza A virus. The vaccine consists of a recombinant HA protein from the H2N2 strain displayed on a ferritin nanoparticle scaffold, designed to enhance immunogenicity by presenting multiple copies of the antigen in a highly ordered array. This approach aims to elicit robust B-cell and T-cell responses and generate broadly neutralizing antibodies against influenza viruses. The vaccine was developed by the Vaccine Research Center at the National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of NIH, and has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy adults[1][6][7].
