VRC-HIVDNA016-00-VP is an investigational HIV-1 DNA plasmid vaccine developed by the Vaccine Research Center (VRC). It is composed of six closed, circular DNA plasmids: three plasmids expressing HIV-1 Gag, Pol, and Nef proteins from clade B (representing 50% by weight) and three plasmids each expressing HIV-1 Env glycoprotein from clades A, B, and C (representing the other 50% by weight, 16.67% each). The vaccine is typically administered intramuscularly in a 4 mg dose using a needle-free injection system (Biojector). It has been studied as part of a prime-boost regimen with the VRC-HIVADV014-00-VP recombinant adenoviral vector vaccine.
