VRC-SRSDNA015-00-VP is a candidate DNA-based vaccine developed to prevent severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) caused by the original SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV). The product consists of a single closed circular plasmid (VRC 8318) encoding a codon-modified, truncated version of the spike glycoprotein (SΔCD, Urbani strain), optimized for expression in human cells. The cytoplasmic domain is deleted to enhance immunogenicity.
