Overview

VRDN-002 is a humanized, second-generation monoclonal antibody that targets the insulin-like growth factor type 1 receptor (IGF-1R). It incorporates half-life extension technology to enable convenient, low-volume subcutaneous administration, potentially allowing for once-monthly dosing. The drug was developed by Viridian Therapeutics for the treatment of thyroid eye disease (TED), also known as Graves' ophthalmopathy. Its mechanism of action is antagonism of IGF-1R, which is a clinically validated target in TED. As of July 2024, development for this indication has been discontinued[1][3][4][5].
