Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VRDN-008 is a half-life extended, bispecific FcRn inhibitor developed by Viridian Therapeutics. It comprises an Fc fragment and an albumin-binding domain, engineered to prolong immunoglobulin G (IgG) suppression. The drug is designed for subcutaneous, self-administration and aims to provide deeper and more durable IgG reduction compared to existing anti-FcRn therapies. Preclinical studies have shown that VRDN-008 achieves a threefold longer half-life than efgartigimod in non-human primates and results in greater peak IgG reductions while sparing albumin and LDL levels. Its mechanism of action targets the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), which plays a key role in regulating IgG recycling, making it potentially effective for treating a broad array of autoimmune diseases[1][2][5][6][8].
