Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VRP-019 is a topical gel formulation of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) being developed by Venus Medicine Research Centre for wound care and the treatment of wound infections. Hypochlorous acid is a potent, naturally occurring antimicrobial agent produced by neutrophils during the oxidative burst to eliminate pathogens. As a therapeutic, HOCl acts as a broad-spectrum oxidant that rapidly destroys bacteria, fungi, and viruses by disrupting cell walls, denaturing proteins, and inhibiting essential enzymatic reactions. VRP-019 is currently in the early formulation and development (F&D) stage.
