Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VRT001-C is an oral formulation of the third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic ceftriaxone, developed by Venus Remedies (specifically through its research wing, Venus Medicine Research Centre) using its proprietary Stealth Targeted Nanoparticles (STN) platform technology. The STN platform is designed to overcome the poor oral bioavailability of ceftriaxone (which is typically administered intravenously) by creating a pH-sensitive, stealth-targeted nanoparticle matrix that enhances gastrointestinal absorption. VRT001-C is being developed for the treatment of bacterial infections, particularly those associated with antimicrobial resistance (AMR), providing an oral alternative to intravenous antibiotic therapy.
