Overview
VRT001-M is an orally available formulation of the carbapenem antibiotic meropenem, developed by Venus Remedies using its proprietary Stealth Targeted Nanoparticles (STN) platform technology. The STN platform employs a polymeric backbone with stealth properties to bypass macrophagic detection by the immune system, combined with a targeting moiety to enable the oral delivery of drugs with low oral bioavailability (BCS Class III/IV). VRT001-M is designed to treat bacterial infections, including those caused by multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens, by providing an oral alternative to intravenous meropenem. It is currently in preclinical development.
