Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VRT001-V is an oral nanoparticle formulation of the glycopeptide antibiotic vancomycin, developed by Venus Remedies using its proprietary Stealth Targeted Nanoparticles (STN) platform technology. The STN platform utilizes a polymeric backbone with stealth properties to bypass macrophagic detection by the immune system, combined with a targeting moiety to enable the oral delivery of drugs with poor oral bioavailability (BCS Class III/IV). By formulating vancomycin into pH-sensitive, stealth-targeted nanoparticles, VRT001-V aims to achieve therapeutic blood and tissue concentrations comparable to intravenous administration, thereby facilitating oral conversion therapy and improving patient compliance for the treatment of serious bacterial infections and combating antimicrobial resistance. VRT001-V is currently in preclinical development.
