Overview

VRT150 is an investigational oncolytic virus therapy being developed by Guangzhou Virotech Pharmaceutical for the treatment of solid tumors. It is part of a pipeline of next-generation oncolytic agents based on the company's proprietary M1 alphavirus platform. The M1 virus is a naturally occurring, non-pathogenic alphavirus that exhibits selective tropism for malignant cells, particularly those with deficiencies in the Zinc-finger Antiviral Protein (ZAP), which normally acts as an intracellular inhibitor of viral replication. By exploiting these innate immune defects, VRT150 selectively replicates within tumor cells, leading to direct oncolysis and the subsequent release of tumor-associated antigens. This process is intended to stimulate a robust systemic anti-tumor immune response and overcome the immunosuppressive nature of the tumor microenvironment. VRT150 is currently in the early stages of development, following the company's lead candidate, VRT-M1.
