Overview

VRT252 is an investigational oncolytic virus therapy being developed by Guangzhou Virotech Pharmaceutical. It is a next-generation candidate derived from the company's proprietary M1 alphavirus platform. The M1 virus is a naturally occurring, non-pathogenic alphavirus that exhibits highly selective oncolytic activity against various types of cancer cells, particularly those deficient in the zinc-finger antiviral protein (ZAP), which normally acts as a restriction factor for viral replication. VRT252 is likely an engineered version of the M1 virus designed to enhance its therapeutic potency, selectivity, or ability to stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response within the tumor microenvironment. It is currently in the early stages of development for the treatment of various solid tumors.
