Overview

VRX-0075 is a long-acting quintuple agonist peptide targeting the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), gastric inhibitory polypeptide (GIP), glucagon, amylin, and calcitonin receptors. Developed as a potential best-in-class treatment for obesity and cardiometabolic diseases, it is designed to provide greater weight loss and metabolic benefit than existing multi-agonists. In preclinical models, VRX-0075 demonstrated in vitro potency comparable to retatrutide at the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors, and to cagrilintide at the amylin and calcitonin receptors. Its pharmacokinetic profile, featuring a half-life significantly longer than semaglutide, supports a weekly dosing schedule. Preclinical studies in obese rats showed that VRX-0075 induces significantly greater weight loss than retatrutide at equivalent molar doses without observable toxicology findings.
