VS-02-HE

VS-02-HE is a pre-clinical, oral small molecule drug candidate being developed for the chronic management of hepatic encephalopathy (HE), a nervous system disorder caused by advanced chronic liver disease. The drug is designed as a unique colon-active formulation to minimize systemic absorption of ammonia and act where ammonia is primarily produced in the gut, while also reducing glutamine levels in the brain. Its primary aim is to reduce hyperammonemia, stabilize blood ammonia levels, and prevent episodes of hepatic encephalopathy. The development strategy focuses on targeting patients with advanced liver disease who are at risk for overt HE.
