Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VS-2218 is an investigational oral small molecule antagonist of the lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPA1), developed by V-Joy Biotechnology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The compound is formulated as an amorphous solid dispersion (ASD) tablet to optimize solubility and oral absorption. The LPA1 pathway is heavily implicated in the pathogenesis of fibrotic lung diseases, where its activation promotes the recruitment and proliferation of fibroblasts and the production of extracellular matrix. By blocking LPA1, VS-2218 is designed to inhibit these pro-fibrotic processes. As of 2025, the drug is undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
