VSV-01 is an investigational oncolytic viral agent based on the Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) platform. Developed by The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University, it is being evaluated for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. VSV is a negative-strand RNA rhabdovirus that exhibits natural tropism for malignant cells, primarily due to defects in the type I interferon (IFN) antiviral signaling pathways common in many cancers. Upon intratumoral administration, VSV-01 selectively infects and replicates within tumor cells, leading to direct viral-mediated lysis (oncolysis). This process releases tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) and pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs), which can stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response. In clinical settings, VSV-01 is being studied in combination with OVV-00, an oncolytic vaccinia virus, to potentially enhance therapeutic efficacy through complementary mechanisms of viral kinetics and immune activation.
