VSV-02 is an investigational oncolytic virus therapy developed by Shanghai Rongrui Pharmaceutical Technology. It utilizes an attenuated Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (VSV) platform that has been genetically engineered to encode a bispecific antibody targeting both CD3 and Programmed Death-Ligand 1 (PD-L1). This therapeutic approach combines the direct oncolytic activity of the virus—which selectively infects and lyses tumor cells—with the localized production of a T-cell engager. By binding to CD3 on T-cells and PD-L1 on tumor cells, the encoded bispecific antibody facilitates the recruitment and activation of T-cells within the tumor microenvironment, potentially enhancing the anti-tumor immune response and overcoming checkpoint-mediated inhibition. VSV-02 is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for patients with advanced solid tumors via both intratumoral and intravenous administration.
