Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VTI-531 (formerly GP-531) is a clinical-stage, second-generation adenosine-regulating agent (ARA) and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activator being developed by ViCardia Therapeutics. It is designed to treat mitochondrial metabolic dysfunction in heart failure, specifically targeting Acute Decompensated Heart Failure (ADHF) and Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF). VTI-531 acts as an AMP-mimetic and AICA riboside derivative that stimulates glucose and fatty acid uptake, enhancing mitochondrial energy output (ATP production) and improving cardiac contractile function without causing adverse hemodynamic effects like bradycardia or hypotension. The drug is formulated for intravenous (IV) administration and delivered via the MitoForge precision intracellular delivery platform.
