VTP-01 is a zirconium-89 (89Zr) labeled monoclonal antibody (Vartumab C9) developed as a PET imaging tracer for the detection of oncofetal chondroitin sulfate (CS). Oncofetal CS is a tumor-specific glycosaminoglycan modification found on the surface of various cancer cells and within the tumor microenvironment, but it is absent or minimally expressed in normal adult tissues. Developed by VAR2 Pharmaceuticals, VTP-01 is utilized in micro-dosing PET/CT imaging studies (such as the VARTUTRACE trial) to validate the expression of oncofetal CS across diverse solid tumors and to evaluate the tumor-targeting potential of Vartumab-based therapeutics, including antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). In clinical studies, VTP-01 has demonstrated clear tumor accumulation with limited off-target binding in patients with lung, esophageal, and rectal cancers, supporting the use of Vartumab as a pan-cancer targeting platform.
