VTP-100 is an investigational, replication-deficient modified vaccinia Ankara viral-vector vaccine developed by Vaccitech, now Barinthus Biotherapeutics, as a broadly protective influenza A vaccine. The vector expresses a fusion of the conserved influenza A nucleoprotein and matrix protein 1 antigens, aiming to amplify cross-reactive CD4-positive and CD8-positive T-cell immunity rather than strain-specific neutralizing-antibody responses. It was evaluated in Phase 2b field and human-challenge studies, including use following seasonal quadrivalent influenza vaccination, but the Phase 2b field study did not improve laboratory-confirmed influenza incidence and the program was discontinued.
