Overview

VTP-200 is a heterologous prime-boost immunotherapy candidate designed to treat persistent high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) infection and associated low-grade cervical lesions. Developed by Barinthus Biotherapeutics (formerly Vaccitech), the regimen consists of a primary dose using a chimpanzee adenovirus vector (ChAdOx1-HPV) followed by a booster dose using a Modified Vaccinia Ankara vector (MVA-HPV). Both vectors are engineered to express multiple antigens from various high-risk HPV genotypes to stimulate a robust T-cell response capable of clearing infected cells. Although it reached Phase 1b/2 clinical trials, the program was deprioritized in 2024 following Barinthus's strategic pivot toward autoimmune and metabolic diseases and its subsequent merger with Clywedog Therapeutics.
