VTP-300 is an investigational therapeutic vaccine designed to treat chronic hepatitis B infection. It is a heterologous prime-boost immunotherapy that uses two viral vectors—an initial dose with a chimpanzee adenovirus vector (ChAdOx) and subsequent doses with a modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) vector. Both vectors are engineered to encode multiple hepatitis B virus (HBV) antigens, including full-length surface antigen, modified polymerase, and core antigens. The goal of VTP-300 is to stimulate robust T cell immune responses against HBV-infected cells and induce sustained reductions in hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), potentially leading to functional cure. Clinical trials have shown that VTP-300 can achieve durable HBsAg loss in some patients and allow discontinuation of lifelong antiviral therapy for chronic HBV[1][2][4][5][6][7].
