Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VTP-800 and VTP-850 are immunotherapeutic candidates developed by Barinthus Biotherapeutics (formerly Vaccitech) for the treatment of prostate cancer. VTP-800 is a first-generation product encoding the 5T4 antigen, which is expressed by most prostate cancers. VTP-850 is a next-generation, sequential combination immunotherapeutic that builds upon VTP-800 by encoding multiple prostate-associated antigens, including Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA), Prostatic Acid Phosphatase (PAP), Six-Transmembrane Epithelial Antigen of the Prostate 1 (STEAP1), and 5T4. The therapy utilizes a heterologous prime-boost approach, employing the ChAdOx viral vector platform for the initial dose followed by the Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) platform for subsequent doses. This regimen is designed to generate robust T-cell responses against tumor-associated antigens. VTP-850 is primarily being developed as a monotherapy for prostate cancer patients who have received local therapy and are experiencing biochemical recurrence, characterized by rising PSA levels.
