VTP-850 is a next-generation prostate cancer immunotherapeutic designed as a heterologous prime-boost vaccine consisting of two nonreplicating viral-vectored components: ChAdOx1-PCAQ (adenoviral vector) and MVA-PCAQ (modified vaccinia virus Ankara vector). Both vectors encode four prostate cancer-associated antigens—prostate-specific antigen (PSA), prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP), six transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 1 (STEAP1), and 5T4, an oncofetal antigen. The vaccine aims to stimulate a broad T cell immune response targeting these antigens to kill tumor cells and prevent progression to metastatic disease in men with biochemical recurrence after definitive local therapy for prostate cancer. Preclinical studies demonstrated strong immunogenicity with robust T cell responses, particularly against PSA. Clinical development includes Phase 1/2 trials evaluating safety, immunogenicity, and PSA response rate in men with rising PSA levels post-primary treatment. VTP-850 is investigational and not yet approved by regulatory authorities.
