Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VTX-304 is a first-in-class investigational bispecific antibody being developed by Vetarys (formerly VetrixBio) for the treatment of canine osteoarthritis (OA). Administered subcutaneously, VTX-304 simultaneously targets nerve growth factor (NGF), a key mediator of pain signaling, and ADAMTS-5 (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs 5), the dominant enzyme responsible for cartilage (aggrecan) degradation in early OA. By combining NGF neutralization with ADAMTS-5 inhibition in a single molecule, VTX-304 aims to deliver both rapid pain relief and disease-modifying cartilage protection, potentially making it the first disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug (DMOAD) in veterinary medicine. Clinical data presented in June 2026 showed pain relief comparable to the anti-NGF monoclonal antibody bedinvetmab in aged Beagles with natural OA.
