Vuloven

Vuloven is a colloid plasma volume expander consisting of hydroxyethyl starch (HES) 130/0.4 and sodium chloride injection. It is a synthetic colloid used for intravascular volume replacement, working through its colloidal osmotic properties to expand plasma volume. Xijing Hospital has evaluated Vuloven in Phase 2 clinical trials (such as NCT01192581) as an adjunctive therapy for patients with internal carotid artery hypoperfusion and brain hypoperfusion. The drug's mechanism involves improving cerebral perfusion in patients with severe arterial stenosis or occlusion by increasing intravascular volume and enhancing blood flow to ischemic or hypoperfused brain regions, potentially preventing or mitigating cerebral infarction.
