Overview

Vunakizumab (SHR-1314) is a humanized monoclonal IgG1/kappa antibody that specifically targets and neutralizes interleukin-17A (IL-17A). IL-17A is a key pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of several autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, including psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and axial spondyloarthritis. By binding to IL-17A, vunakizumab prevents its interaction with the IL-17 receptor complex, thereby inhibiting the downstream release of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines. Developed by Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals, the drug is currently in late-stage clinical development for multiple indications, demonstrating significant efficacy in improving skin clearance in psoriasis and reducing joint symptoms in spondyloarthropathies.
