Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VV-Onco is a specific oncolytic vaccinia virus strain that has been investigated for its ability to inhibit the proliferation of human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cells. Its therapeutic action is mediated through multiple cellular pathways, including the induction of endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy, and the modulation of Wnt signaling pathways within the cancer cells. As an oncolytic virus, VV-Onco is designed to selectively infect and replicate within tumor cells, leading to their direct lysis and subsequently stimulating an anti-tumor immune response.
