Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VVN001 is a small-molecule antagonist of lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1 (LFA-1), developed as an ophthalmic solution for the treatment of dry eye disease. It acts by inhibiting LFA-1, a cell adhesion molecule involved in the inflammatory response associated with dry eye disease. In preclinical and clinical studies, VVN001 demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects both in vitro and in vivo, alleviating inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Clinical trials have shown that topical ocular administration of VVN001 leads to improvements in corneal staining scores and Schirmer scores compared to vehicle controls. The drug has been well-tolerated with no major safety issues reported. VivaVision Biotech is developing this therapy as a potential new option for patients with dry eye disease[3][4][5][7].
