Vx-001 is a peptide-based therapeutic cancer vaccine designed to stimulate an immune response against human telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT), a universal tumor antigen expressed in approximately 80% of tumors. The vaccine consists of two HLA-A*0201-restricted 9-mer epitopes derived from the TERT protein and aims to induce cytotoxic T lymphocyte responses specifically targeting TERT-expressing tumor cells. Vx-001 has been primarily developed for use as maintenance therapy in patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) who are HLA-A*0201 positive and have achieved disease control following first-line chemotherapy. Clinical studies indicate that Vx-001 is safe, immunogenic, and may provide clinical benefit particularly in patients with low or absent pre-existing antitumor immunity or low tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes[2][4][5][6][7][8].
