VX-201

VX-201 is a transdermal microarray patch (MAP) delivery system being developed by Vaxess Technologies (now Terrestrial Bio) for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. The patch delivers semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist peptide, through dissolvable microarray tips that gradually release the therapeutic payload into the dermis. Preclinical studies in minipigs and rodents have demonstrated that the patch-delivered semaglutide achieves bioavailability comparable to subcutaneous injection, with a modestly higher maximum concentration and similar half-life profiles. The technology utilizes the MIMIX platform, which is room-temperature stable and designed for self-application, potentially improving patient adherence and treatment experience by providing a needle-free alternative to traditional GLP-1 injections.
