Overview

VX-353 is a small molecule developed by Vertex Pharmaceuticals and licensed to Janssen Pharmaceuticals as a backup compound for the treatment and prevention of influenza A. It is an influenza A-specific polymerase inhibitor, designed to block the PB2 cap-snatching activity of the influenza viral polymerase complex, thereby inhibiting viral replication. This mechanism of action aims to provide a new treatment option for influenza A, including strains resistant to existing antivirals like oseltamivir.
