Overview

VXA-CoV2-1.1-S is an investigational, non-replicating adenoviral vector-based oral tablet vaccine developed for the prevention of COVID-19. It expresses the SARS-CoV‑2 spike (S) protein and includes a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) adjuvant to enhance immune response[4][3]. The vaccine is designed to induce both systemic and mucosal immunity by stimulating antibody (IgG, IgA) and T cell responses against SARS-CoV‑2[4][5]. Unlike many other COVID‑19 vaccines, it is administered orally as a tablet rather than by injection[3][4]. Clinical studies have shown that it is well-tolerated and capable of boosting immune responses in individuals previously vaccinated with mRNA vaccines[5]. The primary developer is Vaxart.
