Overview

VXA-NVV-109 is an oral, bivalent norovirus vaccine candidate developed by Vaxart Inc. It is designed to prevent illness from norovirus, a highly contagious virus that causes vomiting and diarrhea. The vaccine consists of two monovalent components, VXA-G1.1-NN (Norovirus GI.1 Norwalk VP1 Vaccine) and VXA-G2.4-NS (Norovirus GII.4 Sydney VP1 Vaccine). It utilizes an E1-/E3-Deleted Replication-Defective Recombinant Adenovirus 5 vector with a double-stranded ribonucleic acid (dsRNA) adjuvant. The vaccine vector encodes for the full-length VP1 gene from the Norwalk virus (GI.1) and GII.4 Sydney VP1. Formulated as an enteric-coated tablet, VXA-NVV-109 aims to generate both systemic and mucosal immunity. Vaxart's proprietary delivery platform allows for oral administration and stability at room temperature.
