VXB-211 is a preclinical prophylactic vaccine candidate being developed by Vicebio to prevent infection and disease caused by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), using the company’s proprietary second-generation Molecular Clamp protein-tag platform to stabilize RSV surface glycoproteins in a prefusion conformation for enhanced immunogenicity.[1][3][9][13] The Molecular Clamp technology, licensed from the University of Queensland, is designed to lock complex viral fusion proteins into the optimal antigenic structure, enabling fully liquid, ready-to-use formulations and potentially best-in-class efficacy against RSV, with VXB-211 positioned as Vicebio’s first-generation, monovalent RSV program prior to its later multivalent RSV and human metapneumovirus (hMPV) vaccine candidates.[1][3][4][9][10][12][5] VXB-211 has been described in Vicebio’s pipeline as a prophylactic RSV vaccine progressing through preclinical development, with the stated goal of initiating a phase 1 proof-of-concept clinical trial, although more recent corporate communications have shifted operational focus toward newer clamp-based RSV/hMPV and trivalent respiratory virus vaccine candidates.[1][2][3][4][8][10][13]
