Overview

VXB-232 is a monovalent protein subunit vaccine candidate designed to prevent infections caused by parainfluenza virus type 3 (PIV3). Developed by Vicebio (acquired by Sanofi in 2025), the vaccine utilizes the proprietary Molecular Clamp technology discovered at the University of Queensland. This platform stabilizes the viral fusion (F) glycoprotein in its highly immunogenic prefusion conformation, which is critical for inducing potent neutralizing antibodies. VXB-232 is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, where it is being evaluated both as a standalone monovalent component and as a comparator for the trivalent vaccine candidate VXB-251, which targets RSV, hMPV, and PIV3.
