Overview

VXCO-102 is an investigational mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by Vaccine Company for the prevention of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. EBV is a ubiquitous human herpesvirus associated with infectious mononucleosis and various malignancies, including certain lymphomas and nasopharyngeal carcinoma, as well as autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. The vaccine utilizes messenger RNA technology to deliver genetic instructions to host cells, prompting the expression of specific EBV antigens that stimulate a protective immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and the activation of T cells. VXCO-102 is currently undergoing evaluation in a Phase 1 clinical trial to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity in healthy young adults.
