Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VxD-001 is a prophylactic vaccine candidate developed by Vaxdyn in collaboration with Reig Jofre Group. It is designed to prevent infections caused by multi-drug resistant (MDR) *Acinetobacter baumannii*, a Gram-negative bacterium identified by the World Health Organization as a critical priority pathogen. The vaccine utilizes a platform technology that targets conserved surface proteins of the bacteria to elicit a broad and protective immune response. Supported by funding from CARB-X, the program aims to address the high mortality and morbidity associated with hospital-acquired infections caused by antibiotic-resistant strains. As of 2024, the vaccine is in Phase 1 clinical development.
