Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VXM-301 is a Vi-DT (Vi polysaccharide–diphtheria toxoid) typhoid conjugate vaccine being developed by Vaxxas, in collaboration with SK Bioscience, for the prevention of typhoid fever. The vaccine consists of the Vi polysaccharide capsular antigen of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi (S. Typhi) conjugated to a diphtheria toxoid (DT) carrier protein. VXM-301 is uniquely formulated for needle-free transcutaneous delivery using Vaxxas's proprietary high-density microarray patch (HD-MAP) technology, which is designed to deliver the vaccine intradermally. This delivery system aims to provide a temperature-stable, low-cost vaccine option to improve access in low- and middle-income countries. VXM-301 is currently in Phase 1 clinical development evaluating its safety, tolerability, local skin reactogenicity, and exploratory immunogenicity in healthy adults.
