Drug intelligence / Profile preview
VXM01 + avelumab is a combination therapy being investigated for recurrent glioblastoma. VXM01 is an investigational oral anti-VEGFR-2 vaccine designed to activate T-cells to attack tumor vasculature and cancer cells directly. It's based on a live attenuated, orally available bacterial vaccine strain modified to carry vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2 (VEGFR2) as the target gene. Avelumab (Bavencio) is a PD-L1 inhibitor that blocks signals cancer cells sometimes use to hide from the immune system. The combination aims to enhance immune response against glioblastoma through complementary mechanisms.
