Overview

VXS-1222 is an investigational quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (QIV) developed by Vaxxas. It utilizes a commercially available quadrivalent seasonal influenza vaccine as its active component, which is delivered intradermally using Vaxxas' proprietary high-density microarray patch (HD-MAP) technology. The HD-MAP consists of thousands of microprojections that deliver the vaccine directly to the immune-cell-rich layers of the skin, potentially enhancing immunogenicity and providing a needle-free alternative to traditional intramuscular injections. VXS-1222 has been evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial in healthy adults, where it demonstrated safety, tolerability, and the ability to induce immune responses comparable to or better than standard intramuscular vaccination.
