VYRO-Breast is an oncolytic virus therapy developed by Vyro Bio for the treatment of Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). The therapeutic candidate utilizes a modified Zika virus (ZIKV) platform, leveraging the virus's natural ability to infect and destroy specific cell types. While Zika virus is primarily known for its neurotropism, Vyro Bio has engineered the virus to target non-CNS solid tumors like TNBC, which often share molecular markers with neural progenitor cells. The mechanism of action involves selective viral replication within cancer cells, leading to direct cell lysis (oncolysis) and the subsequent induction of a systemic anti-tumor immune response through the release of tumor antigens. VYRO-Breast is currently in Phase 1 clinical development.
