Overview
VYRO-CNS is an investigational oncolytic virus therapy developed by Vyro Bio for the treatment of malignant central nervous system (CNS) tumors, including glioblastoma. The therapy leverages the natural tropism of the Zika virus (ZIKV) for neural progenitor cells, which share phenotypic similarities with brain cancer stem cells. VYRO-CNS is designed to selectively infect, replicate within, and lyse malignant cells in the brain while sparing mature neurons. In addition to direct viral-mediated cell death, the therapy is intended to stimulate a localized and systemic anti-tumor immune response. The program is currently in Phase 1/2 clinical development, following preclinical studies that demonstrated significant tumor reduction and safety in animal models of aggressive brain cancer.
