Wangbi

Wangbi is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) herbal formula used primarily in China for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. It is available in several formulations including granules, tablets, and capsules. The preparation contains a combination of 16 herbal ingredients such as Radix Rehmanniae, Radix aconiti lateralis preparata, Rhizoma Drynariae, Cassia Twig, Epimedium brevicornu Maxim., Carthami Flos, goat bone and others[3][5]. Wangbi exerts anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects by regulating key inflammatory pathways including PI3K-Akt signaling and NF-κB activation[2][3][4][5][6]. It reduces the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and modulates immune response genes associated with joint inflammation and bone destruction[2][4][5]. Clinical studies have shown that it can alleviate symptoms like joint pain/swelling in rheumatoid arthritis or knee osteoarthritis patients who do not achieve full remission with standard therapies like methotrexate or tofacitinib[1][7].
