Overview
Wangshi Baochi Pills (WBP) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) compound herbal formulation classified as a national confidential formulary in China. It is widely used in clinical pediatrics to treat dyspepsia and functional constipation, particularly cases associated with food accumulation and internal heat. The formulation is characterized by its ability to evacuate stasis, resolve turbidity, clear heat, and invigorate the stomach. Mechanistic studies suggest that WBP inhibits oxidative stress by upregulating antioxidant enzymes, specifically Superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) and NAD(P)H quinone dehydrogenase 1 (NQO-1). Beyond its primary pediatric use, it has been investigated for treating gastrointestinal-type cold, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and alcoholic liver disease.
